One thing to think about when interpreting the Crowley/Ocasio-Cortez results tomorrow: In Virginia, when Eric Cantor was upset, independents could vote in the primary. NY makes it famously hard even for Democrats to vote. Doesn’t mean she can’t win but that alone is a big hump.

Correction: It's "infamously" hard to vote in NY, despite decades of leftists, begging and demanding change. This is extremely odd, since the state government is dominated by @TheDemocrats.pic.twitter.com/HYrjiDrBpg

And the Hillary Democrats/establishment Democrats want to make other state primaries as restrictive as New York.

I haven't seen a poll. A bit odd, given how high profile this race is that no one, like PPP has stepped up.

New York has some obtuse registration deadlines to vote in primaries. In NY primaries are not Semi-Open, so only Ds/Rs can vote in their respective parties primaries, but you have to be registered something like 6 months ahead of time.

The deadline to change party enrollment in NY was October 13, 2017, or 256 days before the primary.

Basically by the time a new candidate declares a run in New York, a lot of voters may already be locked out from supporting him or her. If you already having a winning base of voters, from say a previous run, this isn't a such problem.

There's no defensible reasoning for an 8 month registration deadline in a primary.

You're the first person in this conversation to actually use the word "DISENFRANCHISEMENT." We've been talking about pointless hurdles that could, and should, be abolished to increase NY's abysmal turnout levels.

you inserted yourself into this after I asked a question and actually agreed with Ryan's word choice after hearing the answer. I merely referenced the Sandersnista drama queens who cried "robbery", pouted through 2016 and still do till this day. Even with this imbecile in WH
