Same question. How much do they normally put behind their political directors? You have two variables here.
-
Would be a noteworthy use of funds either way.
-
No funds for their political director would also be noteworthy. Noting it is one thing. Drawing conclusions while eliminating a gigantic uncontrolled variable is another. Not a crime, but a mistake.
-
it's really pathetic how this incredibly obvious variable isn't even *considered* in Grim's 'journalism'. Grim is not so much doing journalism as he is pushing a narrative that lacks proof, which is sadly par for he course for him.
-
I haven't read reporting from Ryan on this. He's shared what he's reading, and I have questions about that report. That's all.
-
He's gone well beyond merely sharing what he's reading; he's stating an affirmative narrative. But I admire you caution.
-
Ryan deserves at least that much caution, I would say.

Perhaps it might help to understand the new CO primary system. For the first time, unaffiliated voters are able to request a partisan 2018 ballot for the June 26 primary. At 1.2M, they are the largest active voting bloc and constitute 1/3 of the electorate. Outreach is expensive.
-
P.S. Full disclosure: I covered CO state politics as investigative reporter/editor for 10 years and repro heath/justice beat nationally. Even got CUNY/Guggenheim & Stanford Knight Fellowships for covering violent anti-choice groups. When can we expect CX to the incorrect story?
