The new game in the House Dem caucus is going to be to see if you can send Crowley to VM until the primary is over. Clearly he got @RoKhanna to pick up.https://twitter.com/joecrowleyny/status/1004447409278201856 …

ah so you mean that most of the caucus just wants to stay out of this race?

Right. There’s pain in the endorsement — RIP Ro’s mentions, and Gillibrand — but potentially much greater pain in not endorsing him or flat out endorsing @Ocasio2018 If members could go on safari with no signal till 6/26 many would.

It seems like Ro and others that have endorsed want to be on his good graces if he does become majority leader or speaker after 2018 or 2020, which is pretty transparent to everyone looking at this.

It’s more that they don’t want to be in his bad graces. Subtle but important difference. He can make life miserable for people and the people they represent.

Yeah that’s true. This doesn’t guarantee anything good persay, but does mean they avoid him being petty or vengeful in the advent of a Dem majority

What I would give to know specifically how that pain manifests. What does Crowley have over these people?https://twitter.com/ryangrim/status/1006722690672193537 …

If he were to become majority leader/speaker he has control over who gets onto committees and who is the chair, not to mention they have a considerable amount of influence over what bills make it to the floor
