This interview is great because it makes plain my concern about a Warren 2020 run: she refuses to name the enemy and call out corruption frankly when it’s coming from “our side.”https://twitter.com/mehdirhasan/status/1005069832067407872 …

So why the equivocation with
@mehdirhasan? It was so odd and unnecessary. -
1) I guess calling out fellow Dems for being weak on banks is different to calling them corrupt (Menendez!), and 2) tbf to her, she did say she agreed with Bernie S that Democrats aren't doing enough to challenge the billionaire class.
-
Also she said this to me: : "Until we have all of the Democrats willing to take on the billionaire class, until all of the Democrats are willing to fight for the American people and not for a handful of billionaires and giant corporations then it's going to stay an uphill fight."
-
I mean, totally. I get it. I heard her caveats & it seemed clear that she just didn't want to offer up a sound bite that could be interpreted as a one-sided critique of Dems, when Republicans are "worse." But the optics of doing so were bad IMO. It felt unprincipled.

She does it all the time but in a way the public doesn't hear. Her policy and political arguments are discordant. When she talks policy, she sounds fierce and independent, which is how she is. With politics, she sounds like she's listening to "messaging experts."
-
I thought her speech at the DNC in 2016 was seriously one of the best and most poignant. Warren's message was the one that Democrats should have run on then and should run on now.pic.twitter.com/8lGmLK0X6f

That recent Demos study shows that the "they're pitting us against each other" framing is really effective with the public. http://www.demos.org/sites/default/files/publications/LRP%20Report.Race-Class%20Narrative.National%20C3.Final_.2018.05.08.pdf …

That’s her one issue though. She’ll do it for this and not really much else and she seems to have back pedaled a bit bc she made her colleagues mad
