NEW: Energy giant Shell reports record profits of $40bn. That has doubled, largely as a result of the surge in energy prices following Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.
And when it’s a record for Shell, that really means something- the company has existed for 115 years.

Really interesting article on the advantages of clothing and heating your body. How many of you wear a base layer as default in the winter?

We should all take pride in the nature around us.
It's a beautiful country.
Leaving rubbish, masks (still!) or dog poo (sometimes in bags) strewn across fields/paths etc...
A small lazy and selfish minority ruining it for everybody else.
Use the bins or take it home!

Truly grisly assessment for the UK economy from the IMF this morning.
- UK to fare worse than any other major economy this year
- worse even than Russia(!)
- Britain's downgrade came as most other countries saw their growth prospects upgraded

Someone who is in financial trouble to the tune of 800,000 pounds with no viable income is too vulnerable to pressure and conflicts of interest. Vetting would argue against them becoming a junior civil servant. They should certainly not be PM.

Has anyone considered air conditioning units with a heat pump for winter heating?
Our house is largely open plan downstairs and wondered if it's a good solution to get one for downstairs Vs using the gas heating system. Reading it's incredibly efficient.

Wetter the better: Gothenburg’s bold plan to be world’s best rainy city
The NHS is the endpoint of most health problems, & delays can make them worse, but it is not the cause of them. Health is largely socially determined. To fix healthcare, we need to fix housing, heating, nutrition, sleep, stress, cruelty, education, exercise, isolation and poverty

The happy news is that we are now living in a rented passive house. It's amazing. There is one small electric wall heater and two heated towel rails, but we've seldom felt the need to use them. Our body heat alone keeps the house warm most of the time.🧵
