Watch this clip where Buffett/Munger defend their Coke investment, likely a top cause of preventable death
Notice their use of tobacco industry talking points
I don’t think investing in Coke is evil but gaslighting the public on its effects certainly is

Munger to critics of Coke:
“We aught [to have] a law where these people shouldn’t be allowed to cite the defects without citing the offsetting advantage. It’s immature and stupid.”
He should listen to his own advice when discussing Bitcoin
Really he’s just talking his own book

In the original video it’s clear Buffett doesn’t believe a word he’s saying, which is what makes it evil rather than stupid.
The tells:
- Says one can’t just blame coke
- Nervous laughter
- References choice
- “And I’m serious about this.”
- “That may be a compensating factor.”

More context on Buffett’s anti-Bitcoin statements.
Talking his book as a top maintainer/rent-seeker of the establishment and an antagonist of disruption & innovation.

Warren Buffett is an incredibly talented investor but he represents a broken form of capitalism. Huge champion of Coca-Cola and other companies peddling sugar and recently bought big into Chevron and other fossil fuel conglomerates, because they make him money.
We can do better.

I love Coca-Cola. The taste of America at its peak economic and military performance. HOO-RAH
