Tried to concisely share my values and vision for the Port's next four years. Would appreciate your help in getting the word out.

Big thanks to Local 19. Yesterday longshore workers plugged in an ultralarge container ship at Terminal 5 in Seattle for the first time, shutting down the diesel engines while in port and preserving air quality for our neighbors.

Don't worry about producing too much cheap, renewable energy. Whatever surplus we create, we can use for sequestration, electrolyzing hydrogen, desalination, and green fertilizers. #renewableenergy

Once gathered most will return to riverbanks and shorelines.

Watching Captain America: Civil War with my kids and all I can think about is the enormous public works project required to rebuild that poor airport after the big fight scene. Who's paying for that?

All 3 runways are back open as of 4:30am. While operations have returned to normal, airlines are working through the backlog of passengers whose flights were canceled yesterday. If you fly today and need to check in at a ticket counter, arrive a little early.
14
Please check with your airline before heading to SEA this morning. Crews are working to de-ice the other 2 runways. Safety is our top priority.
Quote Tweet
One runway (16L) is now open after being de-iced. Limited operations will continue to be weather dependent as safety is always our main priority. Travelers should continue to monitor their flights and stay in touch with your airlines. 6:57am

Today the #CaliforniaOffshoreWindLeaseSale initiated and after 20 rounds of bidding the total value is nearing a half a billion $. This new industry needs shipyards, labor unions, ports—a completely new supply chain. And not just in CA. This is how we kick our fossil addiction.

With the federal auction for offshore wind leases off the California coast just a week away, here's some great reporting on what wind has meant for workers and coastal communities in Scotland.
The next time someone says we can't build high speed rail in the northwest, just remind them that the Norwegians are building a tunnel...FOR SHIPS.
WAH?!? First, try to visualize that, then google Stad Ship Tunnel.

This is really important for coast wide initiatives around clean energy (hydrogen, offshore wind) where governors NEED to collaborate on grid infrastructure, supply chain, workforce, and standards.
