I was honestly taught in school (FL) that slavery was not the only factor, and state's rights were a big part. That it was complicated.

Same (TX). But I don't think anyone is saying the war was JUST about slavery. Though denying it as the primary motivator is revisionist.

The Revolutionary War wasn't JUST fought about taxation without representation, but definitely the motivating factor.

Same Ohio. To say slavery was the only cause of the civil war is overly simplistic at best just flat out wrong at worst.

So if not slavery, then what? States rights? (aka, the right to own slaves) Economics? (what was the South's economy based on? Oh, slaves)
