This is really cool! I especially like the example of a type whose tangent is not itself, a neural network layer with extra flags.

Thanks Casey! Yeah, after all this while, it turned out the most practical use case of the manifold formulation is having extra flags in a differentiable structure! Thanks for initially convincing me to adopt this formulation :)
