About one-third of schools offer two hours or less of live instruction per day for those learning either full or part-time at home. Seems like remote school isn’t sufficient. You forgot to mention that!

The majority of schools that are NOT open are the ones in the low-income areas. It's not surprising that these areas have the strongest teacher unions. Supposedly they are fighting for equity. The families pay the price. Who will fight for them???

Poorer communities are also more at risk in terms of Covid mortality. They also have lower vaccination rates. I am a union teacher that serves poor families and I am fighting for my community when I say that it is unsafe for us to open full time.
