And FYI, nazis don’t thrive because they’re given oxygen. They thrive because they’re given space. When nazis organize, violence is inevitable. That’s why you stop them at every damn step, instead of waiting for a car to plow through a crowd.

I hesitate to even give that attention, but that misconception — the idea that antifascists are feeding into the cycle of far-right violence — is not that uncommon. But it’s wrong. White supremacy is inherently violent. When left unchecked, it’s genocidal.

Gonna fact-check some ignorant/false tweets because I value truth. Ignore Louise; let’s just focus on the facts. First of all, the archived thread she’s referring to is not related to antifa *or* Russian trolls. (See tweets on Right). So...that one was easy.pic.twitter.com/yYV8R1cIND

The other thread she’s referring to also has nothing to do with Russia. Or trolls. Not really antifa, either. It’s showing who tweeted about Unite the Right. And yes, I tweeted a hell of a lot about the Nazis marching near my town. My motive? Nazis. In. The. Street.pic.twitter.com/ORFgbOhP4B

Nazis are dangerous. And no, the FBI Director didn’t say Russia contributed to Unite the Right violence. A GOP lawmaker from Virginia claimed that the FBI Director told him that. You want to know a story about that GOP lawmaker? I’m gonna tell you one.pic.twitter.com/PCyk4dvhUs

This is Tom Garrett, the VA GOP lawmaker who tried to blame Russia when a white supremacist murdered Heather Heyer at the Unite the Right. You know what Garrett was doing several months before the nazi rally? Meeting with Jason Kessler — the one who organized the rally.pic.twitter.com/NYKtYbZxWG

Garrett later called the meeting an “occupational hazard” — after someone was murdered in the street by a white supremacist at a rally organized by a nazi he met w/ months earlier. So yea. Garrett had reason to want to deflect blame for Charlottesville.https://twitter.com/rvawonk/status/1147611309237768192?s=21 …

Antifa expert Louise Mensch has some advice for “confronting stupid Nazis”: Just “mock them”. ... which is literally what antifascists do every day (plus a lot more). And when that fails? Antifa shows up to make sure that nazis can’t terrorize communities without any pushback.pic.twitter.com/0vVmRCkOfO

Antifascists don’t just show up to protests on the weekend for fun. When you see antifa in the streets, it’s b/c their efforts to stop fascists from organizing in the 1st place failed. Most people’s awareness of antifa is based on what they can see, which is ~5% of what they do.

Now that Mensch realized that maybe “don’t blame nazis for nazi violence” isn’t the best position, she’s doing the weird thing again where she thinks it makes me look bad that I believed more than a half dozen accusers over one man...pic.twitter.com/xNKkzIvqk5
