How does this effect the creators that have already met the previous requirements and are waiting to have their monetization aporoved?

If you meet the new threshold, your pending application will be reviewed in the next few weeks so look out for an email update around then. If not, your application will be reviewed once the new threshold limit is reached.

What about access to custom thumbnails for those who are kicked out? Will we lose that?

You don't need to be part of YPP to use custom thumbnails, you just need to have a verified account (by phone): https://goo.gl/3iMkBG 

Oh, thank God. I thought you had to have monetization activated to have thumbnails.. maybe that's how it use to be.

yep, wont be long till they move the goal posts against so that it only the top tier channels that have monetization

Very possible... but that doesn't mean smaller creators can't do brand deals. The biggest thing is making sure our videos still have a chance to get seen.
