I've been looking for an interesting way to build some accountability into my daily writing practice. So in this thread I'll post the music that I listened to while writing each weekday. Music suggestions very welcome!

Writing and speaking in a way that makes your ideas seem simple and understandable is a real skill and should be rewarded. Opaque 👏 writing/talks 👏 does 👏 not 👏 equal 👏 “smart”.

I study teaching and learning in higher education. From all the research (and practice) I've done, I think what it comes down to is this: the most important thing for teaching is actually caring about the students and their learning.

Kramer: phonological gender assignment does not exist, at least not in Hausa or Guébie and hopefully not anywhere; this is evidence for Late Insertion and Distributed Morphology

Donati: labels are in the syntax, pace Chomsky 2013; the label is the probe; instances of unprobed merge are possible and result in an unlabeled object; the idea of unlabeled objects might explain some tricky movement phenomena

Aboh: only the left peripheral part of a clause (or nominal phrase) undergoes structural change - although effects can trickle down to lower phrases. Why is this? Maybe because CPs and DPs are phases

Reintges: (Egyptian) is an analytic language that has verb movement; the clause structure is rich with multiple TPs and the verb moves to a lower TP (subject moves above that, resulting in SVO order)
