As always, it’s about balance. All of these features are driven by user needs. Additionally, this is mostly cleaning up and implementing features proposed last year, and not adding many new ones.

I like that the new epochs are opt-in, though. (hate the "edition" name tho :D) Hopefully the "old editions supported indefinitely" promise will remain true in the future. I like my Rust as simple as it is today :)

Yeah, they are certainly not the same. We usually use it to mean “clearer mental model” or “rust understands what you intended and doesn’t make you write some boilerplate”
