Tom Tromey and I re-wrote the most perf-sensitive portions of the `source-map` library in @rustlang and #WebAssembly. It's a lot faster now!

Is there any convenient way to ensure that I don't use any allocation? Maybe no_std? But it seems to be more restrictive than no allocation.

The explicit purpose of no_std is to jettison anything that requires allocation, so it should be exactly as restrictive as required. That said, it will keep you from using third-party crates that aren't no_std, and some crates probably *could* be no_std but aren't.
