Sounds awesome! Gotta ask though: Rust isn't faster than JS on the web, is it? Feels like it wouldn't be, but then again you can always hope

Depends on what you're doing. Rust compiled to WebAssembly can be faster than JS. WebAssembly is the new instruction format supported across browsers that has performance close to machine code.

While I think I understand the sentiment, JS isn't likely to be replaced anytime soon. I don't think it's wasm's purpose (at least in the short term). Lots of good work will still be done in JS. Wasm gives a good way to improve speed where needed.

wasm doesn't have all the features that JS provides. Strong connection to the DOM, easier object encodings, GC, etc. It may be possible in the future, as more features are added to wasm.

Too difficult to hash out over twitter, but you should check out the on-going work on wasm and what it takes for frameworks to adopt it. Still early days for wasm and a lot more still needs to be proven out.

Great game!
Adding sound will be a good improvement.
PS: Hold space + left/right arrow and you will last till infinity!

Nice idea. But space and left-arrow didn't work out for me though. :D

It's very exciting to see something more than a hello world and a calculator example. Looking forward to seeing where this can go.

I can imagine some libraries having their implementations ported to WebAssembly first, while keeping their JavaScript interface. The JS development environment is too rich to simply leave it aside in just a few years, I'd say.
