Neat?! This is awful, it will make bootstrapping on new platform even harder! And it's already insane, double chicken-egg problem.

i don't think it gets any harder. Crates from crates.io are committed from source, so no more issues than today

Actually, it's already not possible to build rustc w/o cargo and cargo itself have dozens of deps, so I guess that it doesn't matter anymore

Maybe I just naively hoped that someone will eventually realise how insanely complex it became and try to simplify, instead of making worse

this is simplification in a sense, no internal vs external liblog, for example.
