#rustlang might be suitable for Indie #gamedevelopment but what about #AAA studios?
#cplusplus can be adapted to fit the unique workflow & environment of literally hundreds of game studios. Rust would require changing your entire workflow.

@RAD_Studios has completely switched over to Rust for their new#AAA game projects.https://twitter.com/AndreaPessino/status/1021532074153394176?s=19 …Josh015 added,
Andrea Pessino @AndreaPessinoIt's finally happening - after >30 years of pro use, 20 of which quite reluctantly, I am officially DONE with C/C++. Only maintenance from now on, everything new will be in@rustlang. THANKS Rust team for refining modern concepts into such a practical, elegant system. I love it.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -
That is a good thing (and good sign) but that's just a single studio. Compare RaD to Ubisoft, which has to build for many platforms, many times. I'm not (yet) convinced that
#rustlang will be challenging (let alone replacing) data-driven#cplusplus in the near future.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Replying to @rustlang @DamnCatOnMyDesk and
Does
@EmbarkStudios use Rust for non-PC game engines? Rust is excellent for PC gamedev, but none of the open-source engines I've seen so far would be a very good fit for Nintendo/PlayStation/XBox/Android TV/iOS.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
I’m not sure, but when @Kyrenite was at @ChucklefishLTD ; they got rust running on all of the current gen consoles in a week.
So, possible? Yes. Still very early days of course.
