You know what. I just don't think I can buy into the notion that @rustlang has value until @firefox is faster than @googlechrome. The effort level in producing something as complex as an entire language + ecosystem, and selling it on performance... to not actually go faster...

Fast. More stable. More secure. And all because the language imposes a lot of controls done at compile time.

If those are the metrics I care about I choose Haskell. I am not sure Rust is faster beyond small examples.

Rust is very promise system language with high performance and memory-safety concerns in mind. I really enjoy writing fast and reliable web servers for example. I know that Firefox isn't the only user but also companies like Cloudflare, Dropbox, Amazon, NPM are using it too.
