@rustlang is there not an idiomatic way of making a series of flags which can be anded/ored together without pulling in a crate or spending all day writing operator overloads for a custom type?
Not all programs use this kind of thing. What’s basic or not depends on the kind of software you’re building.

Also, it’s not always “external” exactly; for example, https://crates.io/crates/bitflags is provided by the library team, even though it’s not part of the standard library

Rust tends towards a minimal standard library. It’s a choice, and there are valid reasons to go the other way, but it’s the choice we’ve made.
