Hey @rustlang folks, what's a simple HTTP library without a ton of deps? Reqwest/Hyper and their 25+ dependencies seem excessive when I frankly just need:
get(url, parameters) //=> Ok(response) / Err(response)
for unicode and binary results.

I get it and I WELL understand the cost of maintaining a Hard Subject Library, but also the alternate choice is "let the non-monetarily-supported people handle a Hard Subject Library used by the masses" and that's obviously not an ideal result.

Multiple concerns about funding Rust contributors have been raised recently. However, this is orthogonal to making certain features part of stdlib or keeping it as a separate crate. The
@rustlang teams are known to nurse and support important crates in the ecosystem. - 2 more replies

I’m for an essentials-only stdlib. Adding http support would clutter it I think. I say we leave it to the open source community to come up with an industry standard lib.
