Been thinking of that while I go through a pattern of "do thing that may return a value, process value, return another option". I always have to construct a new "None" if the initial value was missing. Can't just return the same None!

Also, is Option::None a pointer or a value? I think it's a value so first tweet is wrong

It is a value, yes. That said Option<&T> is still a pointer so you’re right there!
