I find it a little odd that rust is for building a better browser, but I'm yet to see a conf talk about gui programming. Maybe after async lands? Or gtk/qt bindings mature?

Servo was solely the rendering engine, which is the part that doesn’t use the normal GUI toolkits. It’s still early days for GUI stuff; there’s some discussions but no clear single winner project. The talk in your other reply is very promising!

Sure. I get that, but I would have thought there'd be overlaps in the problem space. Low latency input processing, widget painting, layout/constraint processing - these are all things a gui toolkit and a web renderer would have in common, right?
