And FFS if you *still* wake in a cold sweat at the thought of C being used for critical systems, off you go and create us all a new language that'll run on all the same platforms with similar resource impact. Just do it. Go. We'll use it. Print your own cash. #FFSTechConf

Pretty sure he’s referring to @rustlang, and while it’s not quite to ‘all the same platforms’ with the @rustembedded projects it get closer every day.

Ah yes, Rust is something I eagerly keep an eye on. Not really viable for any of the embedded platforms I use, and one big issue is workflow/tooling. But still by far the most viable C contender out there.

TI C55x and MSP430, ARM LPC1768 mainly. BUT, and this is the big thing, I really write reference code. If I do that in Rust, and there's a missing platform, someone has to port to C anyway and nothing's really been achieved.

Hey! Right now we are focused on getting stable support for ARM microcontrollers as our primary goal due to them having the best support in LLVM at the moment. We also have support in progress for MSP430, as well as some targets like AVR and RISC-V that in development.
