Why is it okay for the government to control what substances we put in OUR OWN bodies? I’m not saying I support drugs (aside from Cannabis) but it shouldn’t be illegal to do them. It’s that person’s choice. Freedom of choice and freedom of doing what we want with our own bodies

Your freedom to exist is the same as everyone else's, which means when you intentionally increase the likelihood of not being in control of your body you become a danger to others. These rules protect my right to not be harmed by you, intentionally or not.

I’m not saying we should all go and take heroin on the streets. I’m saying that if I want to eat uranium at home, alone or with friends, I should be allowed to do so. Which leads me to suicide. While it doesn’t stop anyone, the fact that suicide is illegal is wrong. It’s my life

You can't guarantee that eating uranium at home will not negatively impact the lives of others. What if you live in an apartment complex? Whose safety are you jeopardizing when your body needs to be disposed of? It only works if you can guarantee the safety of others.

Uranium was an example. Of course, the substance itself is highly dangerous to everyone. But why am I allowed to drink alcohol, among people too, but I’m not allowed to sit peacefully with a plant at home? Both substances cause you to lose control over yourself.

As a society there should be a constant conversation about where the line actually exists, but a line DOES need to exist. Here in the US they're trying to add Kratom to the banned substances list without a ton of actual research, and I think that's wrong.

This is where we disagree. I don’t think there should be a line for ‘what’ you put in your body. There should be a line for what you can posses (example Uranium isn’t okay) but things that don’t affect others on their own should be legal.

You can't guarantee my safety in a lot of cases, plain and simple. The meth head who just staggered down my street last night and was arrested for kicking a dog on a leash was no longer in control. That's not ok.

That’s not okay. He should get jail time. He took too much, went rampage in a neighbourhood and that should be illegal. But if he sits peacefully at home and smokes meth there, that should be his right to do so. Heading off to the gym, but I really enjoy debating with you.
