Received a tremendous amount of nerd guilt on security cam forums for my decision to switch for IP cams to Nest outdoor cams. Willing to take small hit on quality and monthly fees to simplify my setup.

For a while, I was probably a member of that group. Now I’m a sucker for paying Nest tax for an inferior product. It’s as if these guys never used great software and have no value for the premise of it just works.

My only issue with Nest/Ring exterior cams are the upstream bandwidth. I have 8 cams in my system, and if they are streaming HD to the cloud they would soak up almost all my upstream bw.
