They really should increase the amount of free iCloud storage you get, especially if you own a high-capacity iOS device. That said, in my usage, it’s been worth paying for iCloud storage - especially since I can share my 2TB with the whole family.

This ^ The 2tb plan is great. I find myself using it way more than my 1tb of google drive storage.

Yeah I'm not paying to back up my phone and iCloud offers me exactly zero other features I care about.

Hey, at least their backups work. But then you get what you pay for.

Do you? Because I've had Time Capsule backups fail me repeatedly. Apple's just as bad at this as all the others sometimes. And, on that subject, not having wireless Time Capsule backups as an automatic option over iCloud is hilarious.

Can’t say I’ve seen many issues with Time Capsule backups that weren’t an issue with the storage target. Actually I can’t think of any off hand. But I was referring to the phone backups, which from a business perspective are a godsend over dealing with Android.

And quite frankly personally too. Both computer based backups and the iCloud backups make switching to a new device ridiculously easy.

New device restoring has failed me exactly as many times as it has worked since the feature was unveiled. It is super slick when it works, but I've set up eight iPhones now and four of them have failed.

Yet it works for millions of people. Sure I’m sure there are failures, but your experience is opposite of mine for example. I’ve dealt with likely around 7,000 iPhones in the past 6 years, and have never had a restore failure. Not one. Other failures? Sure.

Why would I base my opinion of a service on the experiences of others? I'm not exactly a Luddite, and have little problems admitting when the user (me) is the problem. There's little evidence to suggest that's the case here. It's a good system, but far from flawless.

I know you’re not a Luddite, that’s why I value you and your reviews so much. I’m just pointing out that something must be amiss, because your failure rate is near cursed numbers.
