Walking into work a few years ago, I slipped on some ice. Two surgeries later, I lacked full control of my right hand and couldn't type. Lost my job, workers comp. covered 1/3 of my bills. I started blogging to fight the painkiller/depression fog, and people seemed to like it. https://twitter.com/jesslynnrose/status/949334086295916545 …

Blogging for me at that point was a microphone and a copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking, but it kept my mind active. It kept me actually trying to improve in physical therapy. I eventually regained control of two fingers on that hand, and mentally remapped my keyboard.

Someone really liked my writing, and offered to pay me to do it after I settled my workers comp case. I found myself enjoying this new "work" a lot more than I did my old job, so I kept going. Today I have published two books, and work for an amazing company.
