Moved from Play Music to Spotify. Ported my Google Voice number. Movies Anywhere instead of Play. Can't fully leave GMail/Apps because work. No new Hangouts, only legacy group chats thanks to SMS and Slack. Maps and Photos are the only irreplaceable Google services for me now.

I think I can get away from Gmail, but it means hosting my own or finding a provider I trust. I have ~ 3 people who use hangouts frequently, I'm married to one of them. Not sure what to do about Voice. Didn't use Play Movies, haven't used Music in years. Maps & photos are hard.

I'm mostly okay with not leaving Photos and Maps, they genuinely are the best at what they do.

Where does everyone chat now? Hangouts death took most of my connections and friends with it.

Same, I don't really talk to most folks from the old gang

I wouldn't mind hanging out, maybe a game night or trivia, we could always throw up a discord or slack server.

What's the go to group video chat solution now? Is Hangouts still the best solution,is it still around. I haven't been in a group video call in like 2 years! And now I'm sad.

I tend to prefer the way Meet is organized, and the compression quality is often better than Hangouts. Zoom is also pretty good.
