So, likely it’s to prevent you from saying “thanks for the measurements, going to another suit maker.” Lots of tailors also do this. Precise measurements are a dying art!

I had a few thoughts on that. There's the business lock-in aspect. There's also keeping customers from being their own enemy by insisting on the wrong size. Then there's the IP part of it. Yes, they're measurements of you, but you didn't do the measuring.
