When you're a big person, those scanners can't "see" all of you, and any areas with increased heat are considered red flags. For me, this meant my inner thighs and waistline lit up on the scanner constantly. I used to joke about it, but the truth is it was never not embarrassing

After the weight loss, I thought I was free from this. Last year I excitedly went to the airport and was crushed when the same damn thing happened again. I had lost all this weight, but the excess skin was still setting off the same warnings.

Today, for the first time I can remember, I went through airport security in under five minutes. The scanner revealed no issues, and I just passed right through. No warnings. No angry people in a now clogged line behind me. Step in, step out, done.

I didn't expect this to hit me as hard as it has. I damn near burst into tears as I stuffed me laptop back into my bag. This is a relatively small thing, but it's years of stress off my shoulder and now I get to come to the airport WAY later than I usually would.

don't feel bad, bro'. I set off alarms regularly. They assume I have a dagger in my back pocket. (it's my left hip replacement setting it off)
