Amazon Echo Auto in the house, whatcha wanna know?pic.twitter.com/XslJeShDxs
Got the Echo Auto set up in the car. Connected to my stereo via Bluetooth from my phone, which the Alexa app insisted I do when it detected the stereo. There is a 3.5mm cable for AUX input included if your car doesn't do Bluetooth.pic.twitter.com/B57E7QTPLV
The included mount is a vent mount, which if functional but in not super excited by. For starters, it's diverting some of the cold air I'd rather have blowing on my face. But also it's not great looking with that cable.pic.twitter.com/ZT2h2lncVt
Setting up Echo Auto is easy enough, but includes a persistent notification when your phone is connected to the Echo. And it only works if my phone is in the car, if my partner leaves and wants to use Alexa that phone needs to be connected separately. Not ideal.pic.twitter.com/2l9A75tWs9
There's a response time delay setting in this Echo Auto, to compensate for the delay between saying the word Alexa and hearing the beep on your stereo. The microphone is listening just so quickly as other Echo units, but there's a delay in that sound making it to the stereo.pic.twitter.com/KGxsOg58QL
This is the stuff Amazon includes for people to try. My first attempt - Alexa, navigate to the nearest gas station - returned and error. I'll try more later today.pic.twitter.com/PFn14DIzVy
Everyone in my house is really excited about this new Echo, especially when I'm not in the car to make it work.pic.twitter.com/fKa3FfBr40
Okay I now know which member of the Holly household I want to write the review. Spoiler: sorry Russell, it's not you
