My sister bought a new phone this week. Not a techy lady, doesn't like bothering me about purchases. Wasn't thrilled with her iPhone X, decided to try something else. She figured because her Airpods worked on Android phones that her Apple Watch would as well. Now she's stuck.

Does the new watchOS completely remove dependence on iPhone or just partially?
-
Partially. It's great for going out on a run, but not a totally independent thing

I mean it’s the same with iMessage. I’d be interested in checking something else out if it had iMessage. Because it doesn’t, I haven’t looked at another phone since the 6

There very well may be a better phone out there for me. But I haven’t given anything even a thought because I know it doesn’t have iMessage. I’m positive there’s more like me out there.

Wonder how often this happens. The reason I switched from Android, quite frankly, was Apple Watch series 3.

It’s one of the main reasons why I can’t use Android. Loved the Pixel, but missed the Apple Watch day in and day out.

My Apple Watch is the only thing keeping me on my XS. I would to get a OnePlus to play with.

This consistently makes me with there was a equal to it on the Android side. I... just think it won't happen?

Apparently the Samsung Watch is good, with their own OS. But Wear OS needs some work and a killer flagship implementation before it can size up.

That's how Apple locks users in. FaceTime and iMessage do the same thing. They probably would lose people on the phone side if it was also on Android.
