Thinking about this more, I guess I've always been the same, too. I do find that I get sucked into TV more now than I used to, but also sometimes it feels nice to ignore everything else for a while. You know, like 15 minutes. Then I pick my phone back up.

I find shows & movies with subtitles interesting for this reason, because I'm forced to pay attention else I lose track of the plot. If I *have* to use my phone, or check something, I also have to pause the show. Just the act of doing that has reminded me of how much I multitask

By coincidence, TV has also gotten a lot better over the last decade, and demands more attention. Old network TV was designed for "drop in anytime" viewing.
