You’re telling me I could give this to any kid and they wouldn’t have endless amounts of fun? that’s the whole idea behind Labo in the first place, of course you’re going to find it stupid and bad because you’d never play with a cardboard box, but a kid doesn’t care if it’s fun

I own all of the other Labo kits and love them. I also own every major VR headset released in the last five years. Try again, smart guy.

you're missing my point entirely... I'm talking about the intended audience, not you.

Yeah I'm not missing anything. I have three kids and they regularly host parties with 20+ friends. I know how kids act when they use these headsets. This is a terrible idea, but please keep going.

Still not the intended audience, it’s meant for 6 year olds and I’m pretty sure if your kids are hosting parties with 20+ friends, they are not 6 years old. I think you’re still missing the whole idea behind this, it’s not to compete with other VR, it’s for kids to have fun

Yeah, I mean it’s not though. The age range is right on the box. And either way, younger doesn’t mean terrible is ok. I’ve consulted multiple pediatricians on this in the past. The resolution alone causes serious eye strain concerns even when only being used for a couple minutes.

I was thinking neck strain but eye damage. Oof. Is there an article on that, btw?

I just googled this. Who knows. I definitely wouldn't let my kid look until much older. Even the visual stimulus of "regular" videos games seems unsettling to her.https://www.aao.org/eye-health/tips-prevention/are-virtual-reality-headsets-safe-eyes …

I wrote this a while ago, when I first started researching this subject. https://www.vrheads.com/kids-can-use-vr-be-careful … Worth pointing out, there are zero VR headsets on the market today with language recommending kids under 13 use the headset at all in their safety guidelines.

Having used the Virtual Boy, I wouldn’t let kids anywhere near the Labo stuff. ;)

The giant robot Labo is, honestly, the best thing Nintendo has ever made. Every child should get to experience it.
