Three people in the last week have asked me why I don't write about what it's like to be with a Trans person, or what it's like to have Trans family. I'm never going to be okay with talking about a single facet of someone in my life as though it's a defining feature. It's not.

I appreciate your point and it’s a good one. But you have a perspective that others may need. Others who have a family member or spouse that is transitioning might need help or perspectives to approach it as gracefully as you have. Just my thought.

I do appreciate that position, but I think I'd be happier giving those thoughts directly instead of publishing them.

So what can you tell me about third century China dynasties? Since you're taking that question off the table I thought I'd ask you something else that you're not the best authority to speak on. :)

As someone who loves your family I am glad that you have made this decision. They are all so much more than their gender identity. I really wish the internet was less troll-y and trans people didn't have to worry about being threatened or worse just for speaking their truth.
