I grew up with the men in my family doing most of the cooking. My Mom and my Aunt can crush it, don't get me wrong, but a healthy percentage of the men in my family genuinely enjoy cooking.

When I got my first apartment, the kitchen was my lair. My workshop. My domain. You needed special permission to be in my kitchen, mostly because it was very small, but most people weren't allowed in.

I prepare every meal in our home, because that's my down time. That's when I'm able to decompress from the day. I put on a show and dive in, because it's relaxing. And everyone in the house gets a say in what I make. And we constantly try new things.

So I don't know what this "National Men Make Dinner Day" crap is, but sure I guess that's a thing. This weekend I'm going to smoke a turkey, make some Thai Green Curry Shrimp, and mess around with this Galbi Jjim recipe I've been enjoying. It's going to be a blast.

I don't iron, Dave does, bc I suck at it. We are a great team with running household. Although now bc I'm not working I do dinner myself. He offers to help but it's least I can do after he's worked all day.
