I'm getting bored of the same old headphone jack discussion. Can we as an industry just focus on making wireless audio good? At the top end it'll never top wired but I want to see this progress to the same level as the distinction between plugging into ethernet vs using wifi.

What's wrong with wireless audio? I haven't used a headphone jack since 2012 and I've survived. For the past 4 years I've had Skull Candy. Works fine for me.

Oh I absolutely agree with you! I started avoiding the headphone jack around the same time and I swear by wireless. But the fact that that it's still a sticking point for so many people says something. Price:performance ratio is at least one piece of it.

Sure. Decent sounding headsets are definitely more expensive when comparing wireless vs wired. That said, people just like to bitch about something. No one can be satisfied anymore. So, I just ignore this argument and move on.

It's about more than just sound quality though. At the low end wireless headphones have weak connections and latency issues that make watching video an awful experience. People shouldn't have to pay over $100 just to be able to casually watch a YouTube video.

I guess I just don't watch a whole lot of video with headphones to have ever noticed this or even thought about it. I really only ever use headphones with my phone when I'm doing outside yard work, on an airplane, or insert random location here.

It's only something I took notice of more recently while testing a bunch of lower end devices and now I understand a little more why people who are buying these cheap wireless headphones are clinging to the headphone jack. I just want wireless headphones to become a no-brainer.

When wireless headphones are included in the box, and are as easy/ubiquitous as wired headphones, I'll drop it.

I honestly think that's what it's going to take. I'm (naively) hoping some mid-late 2019 flagships will think about that approach.

For the low, low price of $1500.
