I'm not sure what your point is here. It's ecosystem lock in. Like any form of ecosystem lock in, there are some consumers who not only benefit from it but prefer it. Not interested in arguing which is "better" here, just saying as a concept it's growing and I'm not a fan.

I disagree, I find Switch to be overpriced for what it is and what Nintendo is doing with it, artificially holding back their legacy content to sell it in a subscription service is smart business for them, but Xbox's method is objectively superior for consumers.
