Hi Twitter. I have two HomePods paired with AirPlay 2. Ask me anything.

Interesting. When HomePods are paired in a group, only one of them work with Siri. The others stay silent, even if they're in a separate room (this is different than multi-room playback).

Nope. The left one by default. Though
@reneritchie just told me that you can switch the default to the right HomePod with a long-press on the right one.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
That's a bummer.

If you don't pair your HomePods, you can have separate Siri connection. All audio can either be played simultaneously or as separate audio and Siri can be used with either. This only applies to grouped HomePods, which should only be grouped when in the same room anyway.

Oh so this isn't really meant for multi-room. Got it.

The thing is I think you can tell the living room HomePod “play x on bedroom too” and it’ll play without being grouped. Grouping is really just stereo pairing, no?

Manually setting that up each time is kind of a bummer, but better than not having it at all. I bet a pair of homepods on either side of a nice TV is a pretty damn good experience.

It sure is (practically like a DX theater). If I want multi-room instead of paired stereo, you're right, I'd have to ungroup/regroup my HomePods every time I moved one of the speakers. Either that or get a third that isn't grouped!

Seems like a solid thing for the suggestion box.
