This was a wild ride! I'm in love with the conceptual simplicity and power of Upside-Down Reinforcement Learning. I think it is something very special and if you want to learn why, come to our poster at the Deep RL workshop on Dec. 14 at 2:30 PM.

In the end, all those dead rectified linear units were just regularization all along.

I remember Juergen explaining the basics of machine learning when I joined the field and it was always about "exploiting algorithmic information about data through compression". IMO distinctions like SL/UL/RL are almost superfluous & much less useful than fundamental principles.

At medical imaging we often need to make a little data go a long way. One under-appreciated approach for this is self-supervised learning. It's almost magical! I've written a little overview to help you get started. Let me know if you try it :)

This is a clear explanation of reasons behind the protests in India. It is important to know the details, but it is also obvious what the big picture behind CAA and NRC is.

Transformations tell us a lot about objects they are acting on,so maybe we should have 'latent transformations', too?See idea and first results in our small note 'No Representation without Transformation' (). Joint work with ,

This is a SUPER interesting idea! Training Agents using Upside-Down Reinforcement Learning "in upside-down RL ... the roles of actions and returns are switched."

Training Agents using Upside-Down Reinforcement Learning RL algorithms either predict rewards with value functions or maximize them using policy search. We study an alternative: Upside-Down RL, that solves RL problems primarily using supervised learning.

Our paper on LSTM review, history and evaluation got the IEEE TNNLS Outstanding Paper award! It will be awarded in 2020. We are so happy with this paper because we learned a lot while writing it, and the community had a very positive response to it despite having nothing 'new'.
