People just look for stuff to be offended by these days, truth hurts and we can't sensor ourselves to make sure we don't offend people. The danger and shock value of drag comes from the fact its men dressing in drag. Rupaul stands for all of us, white, black, gay, straight✌️🌸

trans people literally invented drag. we have every right to be upset that rupaul is denying trans women an opportunity to compete in a competition that is centered around a trans movement.

Uh.... do... do you know what drag is.... or did you just see an issue and got your little butt hurt dick hard on and made up stuff? Drag was started by actors not gays but became a big part of the gay community. Soon we took it over and it became an amazing platform for trans...

Sorry to tell you bud, drag as a form of LGBT art really saw it's origins in pre war Europe with the beginning of female impersonators. After WWI, drag kings and queens poped up in speakeasies all over Paris and Berlin where they were headline acts. (1/2)

(2/2) when drag reached the United States from Europe, it was sequestered to the freak shows and vaudevillian stages. Many of these preformers did not identify as cis. Fast forward to the 60s,70s,80s, and you'll see POC trans women SPECIFICALLY at the forefront of the ball scene.

There's so much to say about the subject but this is Twitter so it's hard to go on. You should really look into the history of drag in post WWI Europe, watch Paris is burning, &study stonewall, It's really interesting! There would be no drag or community without the T in LGBT !

Drag as a form of lgbt sure I’ll give you that I’m sure trans had a part in it, but drag in general was just men impersonating women. Not necessarily gay men at that.

do you literally know Martha p. Washington aka one of the most key figures of the stonewall riots, a trans woman and a drag queen. trans women have always been doing drag and for many it's about self exploration and expressing themselves. so no, drag is just not for men

no, it’s saying “i’m sorry you were hurt by my comments”, not “I’m sorry that my comments were inappropriate and hurtful to an often disrespected part of our community”

"I'm sorry YOU were hurt" =/= "I regret the hurt *I* caused". The language is different. The latter takes responsibility.

the thing is that ru apologized for the hurt caused, not the comments said in the first place. the language may be different but it is the same meaning. ru takes responsibility for the rightful reaction, saying sorry I caused that hurt, instead of saying sorry for the statement

Question...did you fight this hard for the 28 minority trans people that were killed in 2017? Is competing on a tv show more important? Are we equally going under these local jurisdictions pages and fighting for these murders to be solved?

sadly I don’t care the platform to fight for them as much as I would, but I definitely fought for them. I wrote letter to my legislature about how these lives should be saved, I contacted my representatives so we could talk about the prejudices the trans community faces, etc

competing on a tv show is not as important, but with a show as widespread as this one we need to make sure that it shows full support of the trans community so the LGBT+ community can gain a greater understanding of the problems faced by them
