Have English-speaking fandom people ever thought that there's a chance their way of communicating doesn't translate very well to non-English speakers? :') I see people screaming "I HATE THIS SO MUCH" at JP/KR artists and I am so concerned.

We know what they really mean, but do non-ENG people? Sometimes even I, actual part of western fandom, have a hard time telling whether strangers are genuinely shitting on something or expressing their love in their unique way without context X'D

That's why I'm always super careful when replying to authors and such, I try to use long forms and easy language bc they're probably using Google translate and that way there's a high chance of them actually understanding what I wanna convey

And I also always use 'love' and never 'hate' no matter the context bc they'll know its something positive bc everyone has heard that word before!

I'm baffled by the fact eng speakers are sure you know their acronyms. I wish they use words sometimes, I can check urban dictionary to replay to a post but it's really taxing while chatting with someone

Sometimes I have a hard time reading the intended message behind people's tweets nowadays and I'm not even half bad at English X'D

saying something like I hate this so much I would only do that with a close friend who would know I don’t mean it that way. Even with a native English speaker as a non-Friend I wouldn’t dare use it in case it comes across wrong 😅😅

That kind of playful rudeness is something I only reserve for my close friends too 😂

It makes me embarrassed. Sometimes I get what they mean, but the rest of the time being on the internet makes it hard to tell if it's not obvious (the difference between "I HATE THIS" vs "I HATE THIS 💕")

"I HATE THIS SO MUCH" when you mean the opposite is shit communication to ppl outside your immediate personal circle even WITHOUT a language barrier. Bring back sincere compliments, if that's what you mean.

And keep them simple and straightforward enough that the autotranslate feature won't mangle them too badly.
