I’ve kept quiet since the announcement because I wanted to give Twitter leadership a chance to do right by it’s employees, and they did. Thank you.

Elon has decided not to join our board. I sent a brief note to the company, sharing with you all here.

Elon Musk decided not to join the Twitter Board. We were excited by the opportunity to collaborate and clear about the risks. We believed the best path forward was having Elon as a fiduciary of Twitter where he, like all board members, must act in the best interests of our company and our shareholders. The board offered him a seat (contingent on a background check and formal acceptance). The effective date was 4/9, but the same day Elon shared that he will no longer be joining. I believe this is for the best. We will always value input from shareholders and remain open to his. Our goals and priorities are unchanged. Let's tune out the noise and stay focused on what we’re building.

This is going to sound funny but Musks immediate chilling effect was something that bothered me significantly. Twitter has a beautiful culture of hilarious constructive criticism, and I saw that go silent because of his minions attacking employees.

That is certainly not the only thing - my rule #1 is “do not feed the trolls” - people like him thrive on attention, including negative attention. I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction.

I’m glad to have joined a company that, while not perfect, is responsive. Twitter culture is weird and special. Thank you for maintaining it.

I am confused. How did Twitter do right by its employees? This “brief note” is contradictory. Twitter offered him a seat on the board. He did not accept. And then Twitter thought it was for the best? I honestly do not understand the message.
