When I profiled Warren in 2011, I talked to many of her former students (whom I contacted on my own, not via her campaign). They all spoke of her like this. My editors at the time did not want me to include a lot of what they said, because it was simply too over-the-top positive.

For those who might want some more content on Professor Warren, a couple things: Both she and her husband had a tradition of inviting their classes (70+ students) over to their house for brunch at the end of the semester (this also meant time with their pup). (1/4)
Bad editing, to be honest. If the purpose is to inform readers on who a representative is, by editing out the high praise, you're not telling readers the truth: that this is a woman who gets high praise.

I had the same experience back in 2009, when she was just starting out doing consumer protection work on the hill. A profile became a blog post, partly because I was a very green reporter and partly because the tension people wanted just... wasn’t there.

Whenever I watch Warren explain complex policy with clarity and humor and nuance, I think "she must have been an amazing professor." (said as a professor who would love to have her skills!)
