My off take on this. It’s good. I hope it gets even more real looking. Bc then any woman can have plausible deniability in the case of a real hack or attack - “hey. It’s not me. Just an app”. It will make this kind of extortion way less powerful.

If this sort of attack ever happens to you, you would be glad to have some route to take control of the narrative. It’s best that this never happen to anyone. Sure. But if it DOES, you will, for the first time, have the ability to deny in a believable manner.

If someone is extorting you. Say it’s 2010 and someone is showing you the pictures that will be released. I would imagine you’d change your opinion on this. Being able to convincingly say “THATS NOT ME” is not inconsequential to the victim!

Fair enough. For what it’s worth. The app is misogynistic and disturbing...
For that to work there will need to be an even more convincing app that puts clothes back on.
Imagine the attacker has a nude shot of you. He demands $. You take the same photo he has and create 100 variations of nude bodies (all slightly different looking). How much less leverage does he have? Further. Say he releases the photo. How much more deniability do YOU have?
Sounds like a feature that could be added to that app that the article is about.
Obviously it’s better that these scams never happen. That no one ever tries to extort you. But. Being able to deny something is extremely powerful. Most victims don’t have that power.
