“Essentially we don’t need innovation,” says Meysman, describing how much of the infrastructure (e.g. mining and distribution) for applying enhanced weathering in coastal areas is already in place #negco2
OK but we do need someone to show how much energy will need to be expended in mining, crushing and distributing the mineral, and where that energy will come from. Would probably be self-defeating to use fossil fuel energy, so solar/wind energy, electric mine eqpt., trucks etc...
Also what of the negative consequences in mining areas, distribution areas etc? We're trying to have less impact on the natural world, not more. Would the cost and consequences of CO2 sequestration be worse than a crash programme of cutting energy usage and (e.g.) reforestation?
