I agree. Low-level interop has a high floor, high ceiling. Higher-level interop (like Smalltalk) has lower floors, because deeper system integration. However, that deeper integration often means you end up more entangled with the system’s strengths and weaknesses.

Higher level interop is more prescriptive, but interoperates more broadly. So maybe a better analogy is... Smalltalk — LEGO dots Files — glue :p
