⭐️ I'm releasing Screenotate 2.0, my Mac/Windows screenshot+OCR+context app: When you take a screenshot, it recognizes text inside + the originating URL, then saves it as a self-contained HTML file for later search

    Operating system

Since UTF is the only format for text in Plan 9, the interface to the operating system had to be converted to UTF…

The window system, once called 8.5, is now rightfully called 8½.

fairness: one person one public cursor, respecting the boundaries of every other public cursor. accountability: nothing can be done except by cursor, and the cursor bears the trace of all it has done. transparency: a cursor can see any nearby cursor, and cannot move too fast.

frustrated whenever i encounter a Google Book which is rendered from an ebook (?) and not scanned from a real book -- they look pretty bad (and don't have good page numbers, etc) feels like those 'fake scanned books' somehow defeat the point of Google Books as it exists today

I would be for this if art historians got to refer to our 3-hr seminars that take place in special collections/museums/etc as "labs." For one, we need the full 3-hour block for these classes; for another "lab" would confer on them the seriousness that ppl give sci classes.
