Conversely: designing UI the rest of the company rarely sees can be creatively liberating. I was FB's first designer on growth in 2008—not a glamorous assignment at the time. But in retrospect: we invented so many new growth concepts—in no small part due to our freedom to ship.

I like the idea of making employees run through the sign-up flow every 6 months to "re-activate" their account. Almost like IT forcing everyone to set new passwords on a schedule.

It's true. We added a thing a few months back to automatically sign out some beta testers every so often to make sure we get more coverage on that. Sign up is hard though.
